Business Spotlight: Abnormal Beer Co.

One of the fastest growing breweries in San Diego

· Lifestyle

San Diego is a city that seems to laugh in the face of comparison. We have beautiful beaches, 75-degree weather year-round, every type of food you can possibly want, an innovative downtown bursting with startups and now, we are America’s Craft Beer Capital. According to San Diego Magazine, in March of 2016 we had about 120 brewing locations in the county.

Not only do we have a large quantity of craft breweries but we are talking about some of the biggest names and fastest growing breweries out there. We asked Elvin Lai, CFO and Co-Founder of Abnormal Beer Co., to join us on Smarter San Diego to talk about the craft beer industry in the San Diego market.

While there are bigger San Diego brewery names out there, we are spotlighting Abnormal Beer Co. because they epitomize the fast-growing San Diego industry powered by innovation. Abnormal Beer Co.’s quick success is astonishing but not surprising.

We tried their M2 on-air and instantly saw why they’ve encountered so much success in such a short time period. In fact, their M2 sold out in 30 seconds when it was released. It is an oatmeal imperial stout with toasted coconuts and cacao nibs – does it get any better? Maybe it does – their M3 was just released November 29 and sold out in 9 seconds.... 9 seconds! If that doesn’t convince you to get out and try their beer, I don’t know what will.

You can find them at The Cork & Craft in Rancho Bernardo, San Diego’s first Brewery-Winery-Restaurant. That’s right, you no longer have to choose between great beer, exquisite wine and mouth-watering food.

Watch Elvin Lai and our broker, Melissa Sofia, on Smarter San Diego to learn more about Abnormal Beer Co. and San Diego’s craft beer industry.
